Experiences of Struggle and Hope
The Gathering of the Wellspring Community will be held in Launceston, Tasmania from 28 September - 1 October 2017. The main venue is the Emmanuel Pastoral and Spirituality Centre close to the centre of Launceston. It will accommodate people in a mixture of double and single rooms with shared bathroom facilities. For those unable to be accommodated here, homestays and motel apartment accommodation will be arranged. Those selecting the Programme Only option will be choosing to organise their own accommodation. Transport will be provided to the Emmanuel Centre and as required throughout the programme.
The Gathering will provide the opportunity to visit Dunbarton - a 42-hectare property on the Little Forrester River in Nabowla 75 minutes north east of Launceston . The property features rare native plants and a wildflower labyrinth.
At Cataract Gorge, close to the heart of town, there will be walks and talks led by Patsy Cameron focussing on the Aboriginal connections to the area from the distant past to the present day. For over thirty years, Patsy has been a passionate champion for Aboriginal education and the promotion of cultural heritage and traditional practice. Two other special guests will also share their experiences of struggle and hope.
Please take a look around this website for more information.
Registration forms will be mailed to Members and Friends early in May.
Most attendees will be accommodated at the Emmanuel Centre and when that is filled will be accommodated in home stay and in comfortable motel apartments in close-by Launceston suburbs.
